About the Painting
People often ask me what my favourite animal is – this painting is my answer to that question. The kakapo, a fat, hapless, charming parrot found on a few protected islands in New Zealand. Don’t expect any clever remarks from this parrot – this rare, endangered Polly behaves more like an owl and instead of talking he booms like a vuvuzela. I hope this painting helps to raise awareness about the plight of this irresistible, endangered bird so that it never becomes an ex-parrot.
A percentage of proceeds from the sale of this painting will be donated to Kakapo Recovery.
